Sun. Dec. 22: KRAMPUS IS COMING TO TOWN!
KRAMPUS IS COMING TO TOWN!
That’s right, folks! Now’s your chance to meet your favorite half-goat, half-demon holiday monster.
In addition to a slew of vendors and live music, we’ll have not one but FOUR Krampuses prowling the market ringing bells, wagging birch branches, and cracking whips (including the winner of Asbury Park’s recent Krampuslauf). So come on down and get your style Kramped! In collaboration with Main Street Highland Park.
KRAMPUS MARKET roster:
VENDORS/ARTISTS:
THE RAC-ON-TOUR: curated used book caravan built on the back of a ’53 International flatbed.
WEIRD NEW JERSEY: zine-cum-magazine recounting local legends, purported hauntings, ghost stories, folklore, unusual places or events, and other peculiarities in New Jersey. Co-creator Mark Moran will be selling the current issue (w. The Devil & Daisy Dirt on the cover), back issues, books from their Weird US series, and a range of WNJ merch.
THROUGH THE MOONGATE: An HP staple. Pine, gingerbread, peppermint, and cinnamon candles, seasonal gifts, eldritch odds & ends.
JAD KAADO: Eastern inspired horror. Selling vintage horror comics and his EC inspired comic book anthology, The Tomb of Baalberith (Vol. 2), created by the legendary Marvel artist Mark Mckenna, featuring a script by Jad.
BRO-ARTS: antiques and vintage clothing w. a rockabilly vibe. Perfectos and velvet Elvises.
PLUS: Urban Blossom, Burbujas D’Amor, Duchess Farms, Art of Charles Michael, Gabby’s Essential Soap, Green Dog Mobile, Scream Truck, Twelve Truck, Crumbley Kitchen, Gustosa Food and Desserts, Enchanted Creations, LinkedbyMint, ThaiBest Cuisine, Robert Diken / Basecamp Studio, Latin Bites, EF Stained Glass, PinkBeauty Organic Skincare, Jillie Roslewicz Photography, HPHS class of 2027, Casa De Konkan, Shantés Travel Things, and The Bengali Goat
PERFORMANCES:
12:15 PM – Storytelling – CHRISTMAS GHOST STORIES, FIRESIDE YARNS, and WEIRD WINTER TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE. Join yours truly, supernatural cicerone Will Rogers (Guide to the Unkown), and five super-talented young writers as we respond to the season’s ability to fire the imagination. With Nikki Weaver, Aparna Ragupathi, Julian Lance, Aidan Broadbent, and Michaela Schwab.
1:45 PM (to 3:45) – Live Music – MARIELL & DAVE: Merry Musicians
3:45 PM – Fire Breathing – Krampus is the son of the Norse god Hel, so what Krampus event wouldn’t benefit from some fire-spitting?
NEEDLEZ: THE DRAGONBORN will be on hand to upchuck a little Helheim fire. Plus flame-eating and fire batons.
THROUGHOUT: Pictures with KRAMPUS! My favorite four Krampuses from Asbury Park’s recent Krampuslauf (including the winner) will lurk, skulk, and prowl the parking lot. NORDIC KRAMPUS, BARBARIAN KRAMPUS, FATHER & SON KRAMPUS.
